Serneke to remodel retirement home in Lund

28/05/2019

Serneke Construction has signed an agreement with the municipality of Lund for the remodeling and extension of the Mårtenslund retirement home. The contract is valued at approximately SEK 66 million.

The Mårtenslund retirement home is to be remodeled to meet today’s demands on the care it provides. The contract includes reducing the number of housing units from 60 to 40, expanding the home’s communal areas, building a new staircase and elevator lobby, installing photovoltaic cells on the roof and renovating a pool.

Construction is scheduled to commence in the late autumn of 2019, with occupancy planned for the summer of 2021.

“Making use of existing buildings and refining them to better suit new operations is always a challenge, although a positive one. Remodeling also forms part of the sustainability efforts that we must all undertake – to make optimum use of existing buildings to minimize exploitation of the Earth’s resources. Alongside LKF, Serneke will conduct the remodeling process with care, ensuring that it hands over a ‘new’ building in which LKF’s tenants can further develop their operations,” says Eva Frostberger, Construction Manager at Serneke Construction.

The contract sum of approximately SEK 66 million is included in order bookings for the second quarter of 2019.
