Serneke constructs major sewage pumping station in Gothenburg

11/10/2019

Serneke Civil Engineering has signed a contract with Kretslopp och vatten (Ecocycle and Water) in the City of Gothenburg for the construction of a new sewage pumping station. The project is valued at approximately SEK 90 million.

The pumping station at Kodammarna is Gothenburg’s largest and plays a critical role in the city. The new pumping station is being constructed adjacent to an existing station that no longer fulfills its function.

“We are happy to have been entrusted with being involved in the development of such an important public function. This project is entirely in line with our focus on water supply and sewerage, as well as on the process industry for professional clients,” says Calle Magnusson, Construction Manager at Serneke Civil Engineering.

“It feels good to be getting started with stage two of the project,” says Elisabet Athley, project manager at Kretslopp och vatten. Today, a different level of redundancy is being built in than that included in 1967. In the long term, we hope that the project will be able to contribute to reduced overflow as a step towards making it possible to bathe in the river.

Work will commence in early 2020 and the project is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2021.

The construction contract was signed on 17 September and the order amount of approximately SEK 90 million was included in the order bookings for the third quarter of 2019.
