Serneke building homes in Gällivare

27/02/2020

Serneke has signed two separate construction contracts with LKAB for the construction of 52 apartments and 25 link houses in Gällivare. The two contracts are valued at approximately SEK 151 million in total.

The contracts are for the new construction of 52 apartments distributed between eight two-story buildings, as well as 25 link houses, supplementary buildings and groundwork at Bryggeribacken in Gällivare.

“This represents the starting shot for our development of Malmfälten, where we will be an active player in both the transformation of the community, as well as in other parts of the market. It is also highly gratifying that the project will be carried out in collaboration with LKAB. They are incredibly talented and easy to work with – a really good customer,” says Lars-Ola Särkimukka, Construction Manager at Serneke.

The homes being constructed are replacement housing for the final group of LKAB Fastigheter tenants to be moved from Malmberget within the next two years as a result of the expansion of the mine. The residential area, which is being planned together with architects Nordmark & Nordmark, is to be given a well-established feel and a pleasant atmosphere.

“Fully developed, a residential neighborhood with varied development and a mix of detached houses, chain houses, semi-detached houses and apartment buildings will have been created. We look forward to a successful project and good collaboration with Serneke,” says Frida Larsson, Project Manager at LKAB.

Construction is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2020. The projects are scheduled to be completed in stages from the third quarter of 2021 and until the second quarter of 2022.

Both contracts are conditional on building permits being granted, which is expected to occur in the spring of 2020. Both orders of approximately SEK 91 million and SEK 60 million respectively, will be included in the order bookings for the quarter in which the building permits are granted.
