Serneke to construct PSAP and control center in Örebro

The new PSAP and control center will be shared by the police, the rescue services and SOS-Alarm, but will also fill a broader, shared societal function for the Swedish Armed Forces, the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), as well as Region Örebro and the County Administrative Board. The objective of the facility, the first of its kind, is to increase collaboration in crisis situations and to be able to manage rescue efforts better.

The 11,600 square-meter control center will be constructed at the northern approach to the city of Örebro in central Sweden, adjacent to the E20 highway. Besides housing several different control units, the premises will also include command rooms, training premises, etc.

“It gives us both pride and pleasure to be entrusted with constructing a facility that will fill such an important function in society. We will approach this project with the commitment and responsibility with which we execute all of our assignments,” says Magnus Ryström, Construction Manager at Serneke.

“The project has been in progress for some time and it feels good to proceed with construction, in itself unique in terms of premises specifically adapted for the purposes of a control center that brings different societal functions together under one roof,” says Kjell-Åke Nilsson, Director of Business Development at Intea.

Anders Arfvén was appointed Managing Director of Serneke Sweden on July 1 this year.

“It’s very exciting for me to join the project at this stage and to see how our employees’ skills and commitment enable us to secure and carry out another major and significant project that makes a difference in society. This project also strengthens Serneke’s long-term initiative in central Sweden,” he says.

Planning has been in progress since the summer of 2019 and the detailed design process now takes over. Construction is preliminarily expected to commence in December 2020. The new PSAP and control center is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2023.

The order value of approximately SEK 405 million is included in order bookings for the third quarter of 2020.
