Serneke bought Sjöbefälsskolan (The Maritime Academy) in Gothenburg in spring 2013 from Niam, one of Europe's leading private equity firms in real estate. Subsequently, Sjöbefälsskolan has been developed jointly with Adapta Properties who became the sole owner of the property in 2014.
Sjöbefälsskolan is a historic property from 1862 of about 9 100 sqm. Parts of the building are landmarked. An example of this is the entrance and the reception area where there is a statue of the sea god Neptune. The most remarkable part of the property is perhaps the time ball that for over 150 years has announced the time for the citizens of Gothenburg.
The consulting firm Vinngroup are now tenants along with technology companies Qualisys, EA Digital Illusions CE and Cadence Design Systems AB. Serneke moved their head office to Sjöbefälsskolan in March 2015.
