Serneke and Midroc has signed a letter of intent with Trelleborg municipality concerning the development of a new district in Central Trelleborg. It is part of the coastal city of Trelleborg 2025, large urban development projects. An older industrial area west of the Centre of Trelleborg will be converted into a new residential and recreational area with space for about 1 000 new housing, service facilities and a new beach and promenade.
Serneke and Midroc has acquired two beachfront properties in Western Trelleborg in order to develop the new district, which had the working title Västra Sjöstaden, together with the municipality.
"This will mean a lot to us. Through the development of the new neighborhood added to Trelleborg many new homes with seaview that can attract new residents. We tie while the city closer to the sea, "says Torbjörn Karlsson, Mayor of Trelleborg. Trelleborgarna also get new venues, including a new Boardwalk and hopefully even a brand new sandy beach.
"With this project we are establishing Serneke in Trelleborg, a city with a great location, nice environment and good transport links," said Ola Serneke, CEO of Serneke Group. The development of the new district will increase attractiveness further.
"This is an exciting venture and a fantastic opportunity. Trelleborg has great potential with fine coastal setting in a growth region, "said Magnus, Chairman of Midroc. The development area is great for the city, so it is an advantage that we have several actors who can develop the area jointly.
As the next step, a local plan will start, hopefully 2019. The first city plan is expected to be completed in 2020. Subsequently, development work is started, enabling it to start construction of the first housing move-in 2021/2022 with 2023/2024.
