Serneke building the new swimming hall in Linköping
Serneke Construction has signed an agreement with Lejonfastigheter to build a new swimming hall in Linköping. The order is valued at approximately SEK 820 million.
The new swimming hall, which will be built at the southern shore of the Tinnerbäcksbadet aquatics center, will comprise around 21,700 square meters and contain a large competition-sized swimming pool and room for a grandstand. There will also be a teaching pool, exercise pool, rehab pool and various areas for play, exercise and relaxation.
“We are pleased to be the contractor selected to build the new swimming hall and contribute something so positive to the residents of Linköping. This is an exciting project that we are taking on with great commitment,” says Fredrik Elmgren, Regional Manager of Serneke Construction.
“It’s very satisfying that the work of building Linköping’s new swimming hall will now be realized. Lejonfastigheter is looking forward to a successful collaboration with Serneke,” says Christian Dahlén, Project Manager at Lejonfastigheter.
With its unique location and architecture, the new facility will set the tone for the city district being planned in Folkungavallen. An architectural competition for the design of the new swimming hall was held in 2016, where the winning proposal, Vågen (The Wave), was designed by 3XN Arkitekter. The new swimming hall will replace the original one built in 1965, which is located in the same area.
The planned start of construction of the new swimming hall is summer 2019 and the facility is scheduled for completion in summer 2022.
The order value of approximately SEK 820 million is included in order bookings for the second quarter of 2019.
