Serneke signs contracting agreement for 194 apartments in Upplands Väsby
Serneke Construction has signed a turnkey contracting agreement with Väsbyhem to construct 194 apartments, most of which will be apartments for young people. The order is valued at approximately SEK 255 million.
The contract, which is a continuation of a previously signed collaboration agreement, involves the construction of three apartment buildings of four to six stories. The three buildings, known as the Åhusen buildings, will be located along the Väsbyån river in Upplands Väsby. Of the 194 apartments, 165 will provide housing specifically targeting students and young people.
The Åhusen buildings are the first stage in the development of the Väsby station area, where a total of 1,000 new homes, offices, shops and service premises are planned in a location with immediately adjacent public transport connections.
“It feels very good to now get started with construction following a creative and productive collaborative process. It is also particularly satisfying to be able to contribute to young people’s opportunities to secure a home of their own,” says Niklas Wirström, Construction Manager at Serneke Construction.
“In the current housing shortage, it is additionally important to be able to offer housing to those who may experience the greatest difficulty in finding accommodation – our young people,” says Amra Barlov Lindqvist, CEO of Väsbyhem.
Construction is scheduled to commence in early 2020, with the apartments expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
The order value of approximately SEK 255 million is included in order bookings for the fourth quarter of 2019.
