Serneke to construct 60 apartments in Backa
Serneke has signed a turnkey contract with Egnahemsbolaget in Gothenburg for a value of approximately SEK 90 million. The contract includes the construction of 60 tenant-owner apartments in Backa on the island of Hisingen in Gothenburg.
The 60 apartments, which vary in size from studio apartments up to apartments with three bedrooms plus living room, bathroom and kitchen, will be distributed between a low-rise building with several entrances and another building with exterior access galleries. In addition to the residential buildings, construction of an orangery, waste collection buildings and bicycle shed is also included. The design process will start in the spring of 2020, with production being expected to commence in the third quarter of 2021. The commencement of construction has been planned taking the schedules of other construction projects in the area into account. The apartments are scheduled for completion in the summer of 2023.
One of the City of Gothenburg’s objectives is to increase “procurement taking social aspects into account” to promote employment and integration. This means that, in collaborating with Serneke on this project, the client seeks to facilitate employment for people with difficulties entering the labor market and to provide internships for young people.
“We look forward to working with Egnahemsbolaget in constructing a much-needed addition to the city’s housing supply. The development taking place in the district is exciting and we are pleased to be getting started with another project in the area,” says Johan Sjöberg, Construction Manager at Serneke Construction.
“It’s great to be involved in the development of Selma City. Alongside Serneke, we look forward to implementing the quality program adopted for the area and to contributing to the development of Backa Röd,” says Anette Johansson, procurement manager at Egnahemsbolaget.
The order value of approximately SEK 90 million is included in order bookings for the fourth quarter of 2019.
