Serneke constructs Northvolt Labs in Västerås
It is Serneke that is constructing the first stage in the major venture in battery production that the company Northvolt is undertaking in Sweden.
The Northvolt Labs facility, being constructed at Finnslätten in Västerås, where several of the city’s large-scale industrial facilities are clustered, will develop and test lithium-ion batteries prior to the commencement of large-scale production. Northvolt Labs will be a facility of approximately 19,000 square meters, which, in the long run, is expected to generate jobs for about 300-400 people.
“It feels very exciting for us to be involved with and to contribute to Northvolt’s initiative for the future. At the same time, this is also an important step in Serneke’s continued establishment in the Mälardalen region,” says Patrik Ahlbin, Construction Manager at Serneke Construction.
The project is a turnkey contract, including groundwork, foundations, the new plant building and offices. Construction has already begun.
