Serneke to develop 145 tenant-owner apartments in Stockholm

5/4/2021

Serneke has secured a land allocation for the Östra Terrassen property within the Kolkajen project in Norra Djurgårdsstaden. The company will develop and construct 145 apartments here, and some 500 m2 of commercial premises.

“Our ambition in the region is to be involved in developing areas with optimum conditions to be sustainable and innovative. The City of Stockholm’s plans in the Kolkajen project area have absolutely all of the qualities to achieve this and we look forward to being involved in the project. The area aroused considerable public interest immediately following the decision and numerous people have already contacted us, curious about what we are going to construct,” says Ola Serneke, President of Serneke Invest.

Land has already been allocated for some 600 condominiums, 330 rental apartments and 40 student apartments at the Kolkajen site. In total, some 1,500 new homes are planned – of which 40 are floating student apartments – and the project also includes preschools and approximately 11,000 m2 of commercial space, as well as parks, squares, and quays. There are also plans for outdoor swimming facilities, marinas, park areas, restaurants, and cafés within the area.

Serneke’s land allocation was approved by the City of Stockholm’s Development Board on April 29.

According to the City of Stockholm, a review of the detailed development plan can take place in the second quarter of 2021 at the earliest, with a plan being expected to be adopted in the first quarter of 2023 at the earliest. Construction in the area is also expected to commence in 2023.
