Serneke expands in Jönköping
During the spring, Serneke established its new office in Jönköping and contracts have now been signed for the first projects. The contracts relate in part to apartments, through a strategic partnership with Jönköping’s municipal housing company Vätterhem, and in part to a preschool for the Municipality of Jönköping.
The strategic cooperation agreement with Vätterhem is part of a four-year framework agreement with an option for a two-year extension. Vätterhem estimates that it will need to build as many as 1,500 apartments in the municipality during the period. Serneke is one of three contractors having passed the municipality’s procurement process and the agreement allows for a volume of 10-20 percent of Vätterhem’s total new production.
In the first stage, Serneke has been commissioned to construct 47 apartments in the Stensholm block in Fagerslätt and 22 apartments in the Vingpennan 2 block in Kungsängen. The value of the contract amounts to approximately SEK 85 million and will be booked as an order in the third quarter of 2018.
In addition to the collaboration with Vätterhem, Serneke has also been commissioned to construct the Vikaren pre-school for the Municipality of Jönköping. The value of the contract is about SEK 41 million and will be booked as an order in the third quarter.
“We see great opportunities in Jönköping, given its considerable need for housing and its geographical location between Stockholm, Malmö and Gothenburg. We are pleased to have a presence locally and to have secured these projects. We look forward with confidence to implementing these and to expanding further in the region,” says Peter Andersson, Construction Manager at Serneke Construction.
