Serneke to construct 194 apartments in Kiruna for LKAB
Serneke has entered into an agreement with LKAB to construct 194 rental apartments in Kiruna. The turnkey contract for the apartments, part of Kiruna’s ongoing program of urban transformation, is valued at approximately SEK 370 million.
The rental apartments will occupy five urban blocks on a former shooting range, an area set to become one of the approaches to the new center of Kiruna. In addition to the apartments, the project also includes construction of several larger basements providing emergency shelter for about 800 people. The turnkey contract also includes an option to construct a further 32 apartments in the same area.
“This takes the establishment of Serneke’s Region North a substantial step forward. It is highly satisfying for Serneke to be involved in the major phase of development that Kiruna is undergoing,” says Mikael Thorgren, Regional Manager at Serneke.

Detailed planning will start immediately, and construction is scheduled to commence in April 2021. The apartments are scheduled for completion in the autumn of 2022. The order value of approximately SEK 370 million is included in order bookings for the fourth quarter of 2020.
