Serneke to construct 74 youth apartments on the island of Lidingö
Serneke has signed an agreement with John Mattson Fastighets AB to build 74 youth apartments in Larsberg on the island of Lidingö. The order is valued at approximately SEK 90 million.
As the turnkey contractor, Serneke, will produce 74 relatively small rental apartments for young people in the age range 18-25 at the Klockbojen 4 property in the center of Larsberg on Lidingö. The contract was preceded by a joint system documentation planning process that took place in 2017. The agreement means that the cooperation between the companies is expanded from ongoing maintenance and modification work in existing property stocks to also include new housing production.
“This is an excellent example of how we at Serneke like to work. Entering a partnership with the client at an early stage and influencing the design to optimize production is extremely fun and challenging. John Mattson is entirely in line with the type of clients we want to work with, as they take a long-term approach and are a highly professional organization,” says Niklas Wirström, Construction Manager at Serneke Construction.
The detailed plan for the youth apartments was developed as an express project in close cooperation with the City of Lidingö. The ambition is to develop Larsberg as an even more comfortable, safe and vibrant area while helping a group that has found it difficult to enter the housing market.
“From the commencement of the planning assignment to the approval of the detailed plan, the process took slightly less than a year, which is unusually fast. An ongoing dialogue with residents in the area and other stakeholders also generated interest in, and an understanding of, the project, resulting in the plan not being appealed,” says Thomas Enmark, Project Manager at John Mattson Fastighets AB.
Project planning will start immediately, and the project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2019.
The order value of approximately SEK 90 million will be booked in the first quarter of 2018.
